Interesting article. If such technologies are possible it may partial explain the Fermi Paradox. I should point out two things though. 1) we wont know for sure what the conditions inside a wormhole until we can properly test one and 2) Even if Star-Gates are proven possible and safe for traveling through, they won’t happen unless the social, political, and economic situation enables it.

I believe that first and second generation wormholes could be developed in the next three or four decades, but to transmit matter may take several centuries.
However, if Kurzweil and other forward thinkers’ predictions are correct; that information technologies will advance exponentially, we could unravel the mysteries of these quirks of nature sooner.
The concept of developing wormholes for human travel is exciting and one day, it will become reality. And most amazing, if humanity can eliminate death (as some bold futurists predict), many alive today could survive to witness this miracle.
