Population aging is the result of economic development and social advancement. It, however, has posed challenges to the harmony of our society and the sustainable development of our economy. Entering the 21st century, we have witnessed the implementation of strategies, policies, measures and plans of action on aging. We have made progress and learned lessons. It is now an urgent priority for us to scientifically analyze the present situation, find out the underlying reasons and mechanisms, and provide valuable solutions when faced with the even more serious problems of population aging in the new century.

In order to meet these challenges, professional and effective communication among policy makers, scholars, experts and social workers needs to be fully appreciated. The theme of this Congress is “Aging Diversity in Asia-Oceania: Health, Participation, Security and Sharing”. As the host of this Congress, we will be fully committed to providing a platform for communication, research sharing and resource integration, so that the elderly can live fruitful lives in their golden age.
