Virtue and Modern Technological Society

April 8-9, 2011
Mount Berry, GA

http://www.stuckwithvirtue.com/

Peter Augustine Lawler and Marc D. Guerra are pleased to announce the second conference in the Stuck With Virtue Conference Series.

These conferences and associated activities are funded by the Science of Virtues Project at the University of Chicago

The conference, held at Berry College (Mount Berry, GA) on April 8-9, 2011, will focus on the role of virtue in modern technological society.

The conference will have four featured speakers:

  1. Ronald Bailey, award-winning science correspondent for Reason magazine, is the author of Liberation Biology and the editor of several books, including Global Warming and Other Eco-Myths.
  2. Patrick Deneen, associate professor of government and director of the Tocqueville Forum on the Roots of American Democracy at Georgetown University, is the author of The Odyssey of Political Theory and Democratic Faith.
  3. Charles Rubin, associate professor of political science at Duquesne University, is the author of The Green Crusade and the editor of Conservation Reconsidered.
  4. Robert Kraynak, professor of political science and the director of the Center for Freedom & Western Civilization at Colgate University, is the author of Christian Faith and Modern Democracy and the editor of In Defense of Human Dignity and Reason, Faith, and Politics.

We hope that the conference will attract a variety of people interested in the place of virtue in our technological and biotechnological time. Berry is located 70 miles from both Atlanta and Chattanooga.

The presentations at the conference will be published in several different places.  For more information, please contact Peter Lawler at plawler@berry.edu and Marc Guerra at marc.guerra@avemaria.edu.
