It's easy to get forever bogged down with semantics and terms, transhumanism, utopia, extropia etc. And debate how and why minds can be influenced yet not convinced.

Everyone here seems to be on the same page regarding the "pursuit" of the goal towards utopian ideals as defining the end goal, with utopia as defined as an end point singularity, millennial salvation, or other, as misleading and often unbelievable, stifling and even obstructive to motivation for real progress?

As it is just as difficult to define "progress", especially where there is so much conflict over goals and values, (capitalism, status quo), the focus should be on what we can universally agree is socially and technically "regressive" especially where it is clear that socioeconomic failures are not only obstructing "progress" presently but may well drag Humanity back towards mid war period depression?

We cannot expect scientists to solve socioeconomic problems? Scientists will not solve the world's sociocultural problems? This is the directive of the proletariat to demand greater say and democratic powers to guide the world forward towards unified social ideals, and not towards greater and greater divisiveness, separation and individualism?

Once again the "online global Human collective consciousness" is the means to spread and disseminate global awareness, the means to encourage change in sociocultural consciousness, the means to encourage and demand direct democracy and referendum, and the means to demand change for progress and not towards regress and stagnation?

Obvious?

What is important to the transhumanist, the trans-humanist, the technoprogressive, the techno-utopian, the singultarian? Longevity? Egalitarianism, social welfare? Hedonism? So many diverse ideals and priorities, yet global awareness towards socioeconomic change, arising from change in global sociocultural consciousness, should be the priority for the whole transhumanist/techno-progressive movement?

Speed of global online communications will always out pace sociocultural change, and this is the boon, the safeguard preventing chaos, yet sociocultural change need not be slow? We have all dropped the ball with regards to demands for socioeconomic change, we have been transfixed into apathy like bunnies in headlights, because we cannot envisage real change, no matter how easy and incremental that change may indeed be?

Liberals are arguing and legislating for Human rights and even animal rights, whilst employment rights are being dismantled and destroyed as we speak? Misinformation and distraction by weak minded politicians is diverting attention from real progress and opportunity for change. Soon there will be a head on collision between Human rights legislation and ethics and real, material poverty – At which stage paper ethics mean nothing?

Despite the forthcoming setbacks to transparency, attacks against free speech, global surveillance, and worse, I still see opportunity to utilise the greatest tool Humanity has to change the global perspective for change. And Google can help us even now… set your homepage to search for "austerity", or "global poverty", or "climate change", or any thing you are remotely concerned about, and let Google uncover global trends of concern and work for you, work for us?

The nurture and encouragement of the "global online collective Human consciousness" should be a fundamental trans-humanism strategic priority?
