The IEET’s Journal of Evolution and Technology has received an “A” ranking in Australia’s official government process for ranking peer-reviewed journals, which means that publication in JET will now carry significant kudos and funding for Australian academics in federally-funded institutions.
JET’s editor-in-chief Russell Blackford says:
This is a big achievement for a journal that does not have a huge budget or staff, but relies on efforts from its part-time staff and its very strong editorial board. We will now be better placed to attract high-quality submissions from Australian academics, and hopefully we can leverage this internationally.
Congratulations to all involved, and (as I said on my blog) special thanks to our Assistant Editor, Marcelo Rinesi. Now to sustain or even raise our standards…
By the way, I don’t know of any other such system, anywhere in the world, for officially ranking peer-reviewed journals. If any such systems exist, we must make sure we are ranked by them, and don’t get overlooked. Do let me know if any such information ever comes your way.
