IEET Fellow Natasha Vita-More Ph.D., and IEET Managing Director Hank Pellissier are starting, and co-directing, a USA branch of the “Longevity Party.” The first Longevity Party was initiated in Russia, aided by the efforts of molecular biophysicist and IEET writer Maria Konovalenko. Israel also intends to organize a Longevity Party; that movement is co-led by IEET Affiliate Scholar Ilia Stambler, Ph.D.

The Longevity Party intends to be an international movement. Its main goal - according to Konovalenko - “is to increase human lifespan so that people can live for as long as they would like to and remain young and healthy. We [want to] achieve this goal by promoting scientific research and technological advances in regenerative medicine, genetics of aging and longevity, neuroscience, computer modeling of biological processes and other areas of life extension.”
Natasha Vita-More, PhD, is a media designer and theorist, and a prominent proponent of ethical means for achieving human enhancement. She has spoken worldwide on art/design/culture and the future for two decades. Her research concerns human enhancement and radical life extension that may come from what she refers to as emerging and speculative technologies (regenerative media, nanorobots, artificial general intelligence). Her work has been featured in Wired, LAWeekly, Flaunt, The New York Times, U.S. News & World Report, Net Business, Teleopolis, and Village Voice, and in more than a dozen documentaries. Natasha is Chairman of Humanity+, and a Fellow at Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies and the Hybrid Reality Institute.
Hank Pellissier’s bio is located here.
Vita-More and Pellissier will be immensely aided in their efforts by Tom Mooney, the Executive Director of the Coalition to Extend Life, based in Washington D.C. Mooney is the author of Live Forever or Die Trying: The History and Politics of Life Extension; he was a two-term member of the Maryland State Legislature and a nominee for Governor of Maryland in 1986, and the former Vice President of the United States Student Association. Mooney was a columnist for the Journal papers for 8 years, and his essays on the “politics of longevity” will soon be published at IEET. Mooney will serve as Communications Director of the USA Longevity Party.
At present, the Longevity Party has a Facebook page, with over 1,200 members.
