Here we have a roundup of the roundups - a collection of various collections of top stories from 2010 in science, technology, astronomy, engineering, and even cheerleading!

First up is the “Top Ten Discoveries of 2010” as compiled by National Geographic News, including lizard evolution, earthquakes altering time, black holes, Yoda bats, fish with hands, and more.

im1

Next we have the “Best of What’s New for 2010” from Popular Science, ranging from home entertainment and recreation to computing, gadgets, engineering, and green technology. Their Grand Engineering Award goes, for example, to the Burj Khalifa Tower, the tallest structure ever built by humans.

im2

Over at the Bad Astronomy blog, Phil Plait annually highlights the top ten astronomical pictures of the year. But this year there were so many he liked that he posted his “Top 14 Astronomy Pictures of 2010.”

im3

Popular Mechanics chimes in with the “Top Weird Science Stories of 2010,” a fun list that includes paper batteries, hot chili grenades, human skin as computer hardware, and onions generating electricity.

im4

And finally, last but certainly not least, we have the “Top Ten Posts of the Year” at the Science Cheerleader blog, mostly spotlighting professional cheerleaders who are pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.

im5

What were your favorite stories about science, technology, and futurist ethics in 2010?
