IEET Fellow Kevin LaGrandeur has recently been appointed to the editorial boards of two new journals dealing with ethics and emerging technology: AI & Ethics, and The Journal of Posthumanism.  He has also been appointed to the Advisory Board of the Lifeboat Foundation, whose mission is “encouraging scientific advancements while helping humanity survive existential risks and possible misuse of increasingly powerful technologies, including genetic engineering, nanotechnology, and robotics/AI…’

During the protests against the killing of George Floyd around the country early this month, predator drones were found by government watchdogs to be circling above the protesters in several cities.  There has rightfully been a great hue and cry from both political parties about this, because such surveillance arguably violates the first and fourth amendment rights of the protesters: such surveillance puts a damper their rights to peaceably assemble and to free speech, and it also violates their rights against illegal searches.

IEEt Fellows Stefan Sorgner & Kevin LaGrandeur on Covid19 and the Posthuman Posthuman Forum

On May 30, 2020, IEET Fellows Kevin LaGrandeur and Stefan Sorgner were featured speakers at the international symposium hosted by NYU, the Global Posthuman Network, and the NY Posthuman Research Group.  The symposium, done via videoconference, was on the topic, “The Philosophical and Political Implications of Covid19 and the Posthuman.”  It was attended by 250 people from around the globe.  All talks were 5 minutes long, with Q&A after.
