Alexey Matveyevich Olovnikov

Alexey Matveyevich Olovnikov graduated from Moscow State University, and received his PhD in Immunochemistry at the Gamaleya Institute for Epidemology and Microbiology of Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR in 1966, when he worked in Department of immunology and oncology of this institute (Head of Dept. was Prof. Lev A. Zilber and scientific supervisor was Prof. Aron E. Gurvich); theme of Ph.D. thesis was “The detection of antigens and antibodies using immunosorbents”. Additionally, Dr. Olovnikov is best known as the author of the concept of the telomeres, Nobel Prize nominee.
