Andrew Maynard to direct the new Risk Innovation Lab at Arizona State University

Jul 10, 2015

After five years directing the University of Michigan Risk Science Center, popular IEET Contributor Andrew Maynard is leaving to take a position at Arizona State University.  There he will direct the Risk Innovation Lab, a new center for research and practice around creative approaches to risk.

In the RSC’s April newsletter, Martin Philbert, Dean of the University of Michigan School of Public Health, wrote:

From all of us at the School of Public Health, I would like to extend our gratitude to Andrew Maynard for all his service to the school in Environmental Health Sciences and the Risk Science Center, dating back to 2010. In July of this year, Andrew will be leaving the school to pursue a new venture at Arizona State University.

Andrew will join the faculty of the new School for the Future of Innovation and Society, where he will create a Risk Innovation Lab to conduct research, and to educate and engage audiences about risk. Current plans include an array of projects from emerging technologies to incorporating the arts and humanities with risk science.

With Andrew’s departure from the School of Public Health, we are evaluating the future of the U-M Risk Science Center, and will keep you informed of developments in the coming months.

Please join me in thanking Andrew Maynard and congratulating him on this next step in his career.

Andrew will continue to publish on his personal blog 2020 Science, as well as producing videos on his YouTube channel Risk Bites.
