Extinction Possibility Splits IEET Readers Three Ways

Jul 10, 2010

When assessing the likelihood of human extinction before the end of this century, respondents to a recently concluded IEET reader poll fall into three distinct camps.

The highest cohort, 40%, say they view human extinction as a concern that may not be probable, but that can’t be ruled out. Another 21% say they are very worried about it, considering all the risks we face, while a third of respondents dismiss the idea as rubbish. Less than 5% said they aren’t sure.

How worried are you that humans will become extinct in the next 100 years?
