Riccardo Campa at RoboScope 2012

On November 28-29, Prof. Riccardo Campa - IEET Fellow, Chairman of the Italian Transhumanist Association, and associate professor of sociology at the Jagiellonian University of Cracow – will participate as speaker to the international Seminar “Robots for Special Operations – Applications, Problems and Perspectives” RoboScope 2012. The Seminar will be held at Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements - PIAP (Przemysłowy Instytut Automatyki i Pomiarów), a conference Centre located at 202 Jerozolimskie Ave., 02-486 Warsaw, Poland. Co-organizer of the event are “Sprzymierzeni” Foundation and The National Defence University of Warsaw – AON. The aim of this seminar is to initiate a standing forum for sharing experiences between: national and international users of robots for special applications: Army, Police, Border Guards, Fire Fighters, Special Forces and others; specialists, experts, analysts representing main research centres and academias; authorities and decision-makers.

The content of the seminar will focus both on practical aspects of robots applications for security, as well as the theoretical and research issues: current state and prospects for development of technical and tactical aspects of mobile robotics and unmanned vehicles; current and anticipated threats and methods to combat them; economic, legal and ethical issues related to the usage of robotic devices; practical experiences of the users of robots and unmanned vehicles.

Besides scientists and military officers from different European countries, among the speakers is the Vice-Minister of Polish National Defence, gen. Waldemar Skrzypczak. Fellow Riccardo Campa will lecture on “Robot Ethical Codes: The Problematics of Human Control” (Kodeksy etyczne robotów – zagadnienie kontroli sprawowanej przez człowieka). In the same panel, Prof. Kazimierz Krzysztofek, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, will lecture on “Robotics in humanist and transhumanist perspectives” (Robotyka w perspektywie humanistycznej i trans humanistycznej). The seminar programme is not limited to lectures and speeches, it also includes the presentations of the latest developments in equipment and the demonstrations performed by the actual users of robots for special applications.

The language of the seminar is English or Polish, with simultaneous translation.
