Peter Singer's Keynote Address to the Personhood Beyond the Human Conference

On December 6, 2013 Peter Singer opened the Personhood Beyond the Human conference at Yale University with an address titled "Who is a person? A Non-Speciesist Answer." Peter Singer is the author of the landmark book "Animal Liberation," a co-founder of the Great Ape Project, and one of the most influential philosophers in the world. He holds the chair of ethics at Princeton University. Singer has also held twice the chair of philosophy in his native land at Monash University where he also founded the Centre for Human Bioethics. The Personhood Beyond the Human conference was organized by the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies, the Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics at Yale University, Yale's Animal Ethics Group and Yale's Technology and Ethics Group.
