Not just monkeys in the house: Applying traditional understandings of identity to alternative attainment of personhood status

Abstract: With the introduction of mindware to biostatic revival, it is useful to apply current and past understandings of identity construction. If mindware successfully allows both recollection and building off of stored or uploaded identity, then, as with Mary Shelly”™ s Frankenstein, we should not deny societal acceptance because a person”™ s entrance or reentrance occurs through non-traditional means. Instead, we need broaden our understanding of identity and move it forward to consider non-traditional means of acquiring capabilities to construct identity. This broadening includes grappling with the concept of constructing identity regardless of the body that holds the mind.
