IEET’s Michael LaTorra & James Hughes led a group discussion on structural unemployment and the Cyborg Buddha opportunities and pitfalls in the coming age of neurotechnology at Convergence 08. The alternative to a dystopia of digital serfdom and widespread impoverishment is one of a basic income guarantee and life-enhancing uses of emerging technologies, which could provide both technological abundance and the opportunity for self-examination and personal growth.
